Armed Robbery at Privateer Place Apartments

|On January 30, 2015, at approximately 10:15pm,the victim reported being approached by two unknown black males. Subject # 1 was described as 6'0" tall and stocky built. He was wearing a dark sweater with a red symbol on the front. He was clean shaven. Subject #2 was approximately 5'10" tall wearing slender build and armed with a silver 9mm, semi-automatic pistol. Subject #2 pointed the gun at the victim and demanded his valuables. The offense was interrupted when a university police car passed on patrol. The perpetrators fled with only a pair sunglasses belonging to the victim.|

Lakefront Arena Auto Burglaries

|On Tuesday, January 13, 2015, between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, there were six (6) auto burglaries which occurred in the parking lot of the Lakefront Arena. In all six cases a vehicle window had been smashed and property taken from within the vehicles were in plain sight from the exterior of the vehicle. The UNO Police Department requests the UNO community’s assistance with preventing these auto burglaries from occurring by locking their property in the vehicle’s trunk area or in the vehicle’s interior out of sight. |An armed robbery occurred at a bus stop across the street from the UNO East Campus last Tuesday at approximately 10:00p.m. The case is being investigated by the New Orleans Police Department’s Third District.

Auto Burglaries at Lakefront Arena

|During the last three months, there have been a reported 10 auto burglaries which have occurred in the parking lots of the Lakefront Arena. In all 10 incidents a vehicle window had been shattered in order to gain entry into the vehicle. There were various items of property taken in these burglaries but in the majority of these incidents, the property taken was visible from outside of the vehicle.
The UNO Police Department requests the UNO community’s assistance with preventing these auto burglaries from occurring by locking their property in the vehicle’s trunk area or in the vehicle’s interior out of sight. |During the period of April 24 thru May 9, 2013, there have been 3 reported auto burglaries which have occurred at the Lakefront Arena parking lot. In all three incidents a vehicle window has been smashed and various items, which have been visible in plain sight, have been discovered missing from the interior of these vehicles. Armed Robbery 6301 Elysian Fields Avenue

|On Sunday, April 28, 2013, at approximately 3:20am, two armed unknown masked subjects entered the daiquiri shop as employees were leaving after closing. They forced the employees back into the business and into the safe room where they forced the manager to open the safe. After taking the money the armed subjects fled.

|On January 15, 2013, at approximately 10:26 pm, an African-American male (5’9” tall, weighing 160 lbs, thin build, brown complexion, wearing a black hooded jacket, blue hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans, gloves, white tennis shoes, armed with a handgun) entered a gas station in the 6300 block of Elysian Fields Ave and demanded money from the clerk, to which he complied. The perpetrator then fled on foot.|

|On Sunday, January 13, 2013, at approximately 3:00am, two African-American males (Both 5’9” tall, thin build, wearing a dark-colored hooded-sweatshirt and dark-colored clothing, armed with handguns) approached the employees of a daiquiri shop in the 6300 block of Elysian Fields Ave as they were leaving for the night and forced them back into the business. Once inside, the perpetrators forced one of the employees to open the safe and removed money before fleeing the location. NOPD is investigating the incident.|
Armed Robbery in Privateer Place Apartments

|On Sunday, December 2, 2012, at approximately 4:30pm, the victim heard a knock at his front door. When the victim opened the door two unknown suspects forced their way into the apartment. One suspect was armed with a silver automatic hadndgun. The victim was forced into the bathroom while the suspects searched the victim's apartment. Several items belonging to the victim were placed in a bag and the suspects then fled from the apartment.
#1 - Black male, light skin, medium build, 5'10"-5'11", 150-170 lbs., wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black pants, with a black scarf covering mouth and nose and wearing gloves.
#2 - Black male, dark skin, medium build, 5'10"-6'1", 145-160 lbs., red hooded sweatshirt, red scarf covering mouth and nose, and wearing gloves.

|An armed robbery occurred on Monday, August 13, 2012, at approximately 11:15pm at the daiquiri shop in the 6300 blk. of Elysian Fields. The suspects are described as three African-American males 1. 6’4”, 230 lbs, medium build, wearing a brown shirt, armed with a shotgun; 2. 5’4”, 170 lbs, medium build, wearing black jeans, a gray sweatshirt, white mask, armed with a handgun; 3. No description given. The suspects entered the daiquiri shop and demanded money from the employees, to which they complied. The perpetrator(s) then fled the scene.|
New Orleans Police investigate Fatal Shooting in Milneburg Neighborhood

|New Orleans Police are investigating the murders of a 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old man. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. The incident occurred shortly before midnight in the 6200 block of Painters Street.
The 26-year-old man was located suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and the 22-year-old man was located suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Both men were transported to the hospital where they later died.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in the incident, as well as a motive.

Suspects Wanted for Main Campus Auto Burglaries

|On Saturday, May 26, 2012, between 12noon and 12:20pm, there were 8 reported auto burglaries in the parking lot of the Human Performance Center. Video surveillance captured a black male exit a silver 2008-2010 4-door pick-up truck from the passenger side door. The driver of the pick up truck waited in the vehicle while the passenger smashed the window of a burglarized vehicle and then re-entered through the passenger door. The suspects then fled onto Leon C. Simon then unknown. The UNO Police Department is asking the UNO community for their assistance with identifying the suspects wanted for the auto burglaries. If anyone observes any suspicious activity, they are strongly encouraged to report the activity to the UNO Police Department at (504)280-6666.|
Lakefront Arena Aquatic Center Auto Burglaries

|On Saturday, May 26, 2012, between 8:00am and 11:30am, there were three separate burglaries which occured at the Lakefront Arena Aquatic Center. Two of the vehicles had the driver's side window shattered and property taken. The third vehicle had its driver's door lock defeated and property taken from the interior. The UNO Police Department is asking the UNO community to take precations to secure their property out of sight and not to leave valuables in plain site within the vehicle. Lakefront Arena and UNO Campus Auto Burglaries

|On Wednesday, April 25, 2012, between 6:00pm and 8:40pm, three separate vehicles parked in the lot by the Aquatics Center of the Lakefront Area were burglarized. All three burglarized vehicles sustained smashed side windows. Additionally, the stolen property was visible in the interior of the vehicle prior to the break-ins.
On April 11, 2012, between 9:00am and 1:00pm, a vehicle was burglarized in the parking lot by Kirschman Hall where the vehicle's in-dash radio was removed.
The UNO Police Department is asking the UNO Community to take percautions when parking their vehicles by securing valuables in the trunk or other hidden location.

Armed Robbery at Privateer Place

|On Thursday, January 19, 2012, at approximately 11:15pm, an armed robbery occurred in the parking lot of Privateer Place Apartments. Two UNO students were walking to their car when they were approached by 2 suspects with one suspect was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the victims' cell phones and wallets then fled. One suspect, also a UNO student, was arrested within minutes of the offense occurring. The investigation is ongoing in order to identify the second suspect.|
Attempted Vehicle Theft in Privateer Place

|On December 6, 2011, during the over night hours, an attempt was made to steal a vehicle parked by buidling 15 in Privateer Place Apartment. In this incident the steering column was severely damaged. During the same time period, a second vehicle parked near building 13 had the door lock damaged in attempt to gain entry into the vehicle.|

Privateer Place Apartments Resident Burglaries

|There have been several reported residence burglaries occurring at the Privateer Place Apartment Complex in the past month.
The UNO Police Department is asking the UNO Community and particularly residents of Privateer Place Apartments to be vigilant and if any suspicious activity is observed to report it immediately to the UNO Police Department by calling 280-6666.
Privateer Place residents are being asked to ensure their apartments are locked and their personal belongings are secured whenever leaving their apartments, even for a brief moment.

Capital One Bank Robbed

|The NOPD and the FBI are investigating a bank robbery at the Capital One located in the 6300 block of Elysian Fields which occurred on July 6, 2011, at approximately 11:00am.
The suspects are described as follows:
The FBI says the first robber is: 5’5”, medium build, he was seen wearing a black baseball cap possibly with an orange logo, a black t-shirt and a large watch.
The second robber is at least six feet tall, slim, 180 pounds, was seen wearing a light camouflage cap, and black button up shirt.These two guys were armed.
The third robber was the tallest: about 6’3”, wearing gloves, a white t-shirt and a black baseball cap.
Aggravated Burglary at Privateer Place

|UNOPD received a call of an aggravated burglary at Privateer Place Apartments on April 3, 2011 at about 1:55am. Two perpetrators, one armed with a baseball bat and the other a gun, knocked on an apartment door occupied by 5 people. Once the door was open, one victim was struck with the bat and the perpetrators demanded money. Another occupant was struck by the second perpetrator with the bat and a pistol. Two occupants were able to flee via a window and call 911. The perpetrators left when they observed one victim using the phone to call 911. NOPD responded to scene and handled initial report. A search of the area by UNOPD and NOPD for the perpetratos was unsuccessful. |
Auto Burglaries at UNO Arena Aquatic Center Parking Lot

|Four auto burglaries were perpetrated at the UNO Arena Aquatic Center parking lot on 3-24-2011 by unknown person or persons. NOPD has also handled a rash of auto burglaries off campus lately. In most cases, owners left valuables inside the passenger area of their vehicles in plain sight and the perpetrators broke into the vehicles to obtain these valuables. Please do not leave valuables inside parked vehicles, but if it is necessary to leave valuables inside a parked vehicle, lock them up in your vehicle's trunk so that they are out of plain site.|
Armed Robbery at Privateer Place

|The victim stated he was standing on the balcony in Privateer Place near his apartment at 12:30am on 2-16-2011 when two black male subjects forced him back in to his apartment and robbed him at gunpoint. The victim stated he believes the subjects may have left the area in a green Ford Taurus.|
