Dr. Monica Farris and Tara Lambeth participated in the InTeGrate Coastal Hazards, Risk and Environmental Justice Workshop at Tulane University May 20-22, 2015. The workshop provided a place for interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration around coastal hazards. Dr. Farris was one of the workshop conveners, and facilitated the panel introducing online courses, modules and implementation projects around interdisciplinary approaches to coastal hazards, risk and environmental justice. Dinah Maygarden from UNO's Pontchartrain Institute for Environmental Sciences (PIES) presented on a coastal hazards module developed by PIES in collaboration with other universities.

CHART held a CRS User’s Group Program for Public Information Meeting for the Flood Loss Outreach and Awareness Taskforce (FLOAT) at The University of New Orleans.

CHART Director Dr. Monica Farris participated in a United Nations "Making Cities Resilient" Campaign which facilitated knowledge exchange on resilience between experts in New Orleans and Gothenburg.  In the campaign, New Orleans experts first presented ideas to the Swedish delegation in New Orleans, and then visited Gothenburg, where the Swedish experts presented ideas to the New Orleans delegation. Dr. Farris presented on the various CHART projects that contribute to the resilience of the New Orleans region. The Making Cities Resilient website describes the project in more detail, and Dr. Farris' presentation can be found under day three of the New Orleans visit.

CHART Director Monica Farris attended the CPRA “Community Conversation” about flood risk in Lafourche Parish. The Lafourche Gazaette and the Daily Comet published articles about the event. Subsequent events held in Plaquemines Parish, Terrebonne Parish and Orleans Parish were attended by CHART Director Monica Farris and Research Associate Tara Lambeth.

The University of New Orleans will be holding Katrina @10 events from February through April 2015. These events will explore the state of the city ten years after the storm. These events are collaborations among Planning and Urban Studies, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Administration, CHART and UNOTI. All events are free and open to the public.
